You can leave the Isle of Skye with the Kyle of Lochalsh, a toll-bridge, and drive along the A87 to Invergarry. You must stop at the Eilean Donan Castle, it is notorius for two reasons: the first, its unique rock-bridge and the second, it was been the theatre of the film "Highlander". At Invergarry follow the A82 to  Inverness. Along this road you'll drive near the shore of Loch Ness. The first meet is Fort Augustus (1730) built by general Wade.
