8th Leg: Inverness

Inverness is situated at the mouth of the river Ness, it is the biggest town in the Highlands. Its buildings are quite recent (XIX sec A.D.), they have been built on the ruins of Inverness destroyed in stormy periods; for example the castle date back to 1834 - 1847. The position of Inverness, at the confluence of waterways and roadways, has helped influence different peoples, like Picts, Vikings, English and Scottish clans.

Walking in Inverness is very nice, both in the centre, where there are a good number of shops, and along the Ness for a more relaxed atmosphere.
